I was lucky enough to grow in an artists’ family and as a child, I was surrounded by drawings, paintings…  

 

Charleroi, in Belgium, land of Strip cartoons, comics… is the land of my childhood where the famous “INTERNATIONAL  CARTOON SCHOOL” was set up.

 

When I was a teenager, I got the opportunity to meet Vittorio Leonardo, who is a very big name in this artistic community.   I was deeply influenced by his advice as it pushed me forward to learn the classical art through the Italian and Flemish painting.

 

As a self-educated man, I improved my own drawing technique while trying to understand  the genius of the Italian Renaissance as well as the XVII th century Flemish painting, all this, through its realism and unmatched “chiaroscuro” technique and the French modernism during the “Belle Epoque”.

J’ai eu la chance de grandir dans une famille d’artistes et, dès mon enfance, j’ai été entouré de dessins et de peintures.

 

Charleroi, en Belgique, terre de la bande dessinée et des comics, est le lieu de mon enfance, où fut fondée la célèbre “École Internationale du Cartoon”.

 

À l’adolescence, j’ai eu l’opportunité de rencontrer Vittorio Leonardo, une figure majeure de cette communauté artistique. Son influence a été déterminante, car ses conseils m’ont encouragé à approfondir mon apprentissage de l’art classique à travers la peinture italienne et flamande.

 

En tant qu’autodidacte, j’ai perfectionné ma propre technique de dessin en cherchant à comprendre le génie de la Renaissance italienne et de la peinture flamande du XVIIᵉ siècle, notamment à travers leur réalisme et l’incomparable technique du clair-obscur. J’ai également été marqué par le modernisme français de la Belle Époque, qui a enrichi ma vision artistique.
